Why study at the University of Leeds?
State of the art sports facilities
A recent £520m has been invested into transforming the campus, which includes state-of-the-art sport and well-being facilities, a 25m eight lane swimming pool, performance Strength and Conditioning room, and one of the largest fitness suite of any UK university. We are now starting phase 1 of our new facility development plan at Bodington playing fields, building three new flood-lit artificial pitches with works commencing Summer 2021.
To support our elite student-athletes in reaching their potential we have a comprehensive performance services programme which we are able to tailor to an individual athlete’s programme. This includes two full time strength and conditioning coaches who service our sport scholars and performance teams in our performance S&C room which is for the sole use of these groups. In addition, we have a full-time physiotherapist, massage clinic, injury rehabilitation clinic and provide nutrition and sport psychology group and one-to one sessions for our sport scholars. We have two staff members within Sport and Physical Activity who are TALS qualified performance lifestyle advisors and work closely with academic departments to support student-athletes in balancing their training and academic studies.
We are proud to be a TASS Dual-Career accredited site. We are committed to supporting students with a dual-career in elite sport and academics with our sports scholarships and dual career policy. A number of alumni have had successful careers in professional sport or athletics including Olympic triathlon medallists Alistair and Jonny Brownlee.
