Sport at the University of Leeds is ingrained in our rich history and our traditions from the establishment of Student Rugby League in 1968 to supporting Olympic medallist and world triathlon champions Alistair and Jonny Brownlee. Our success is due to our commitment to supporting our students both on and off the field ensuring they can reach their sporting potential whilst attaining academic excellence.

Our new strategy has the aspiration for Leeds to be recognised as the ‘Number one provider for higher education sport and physical activity experience’ and we believe we are well placed to achieve this over the next 5 years. Our sporting infrastructure is outstanding. Our facilities are widely recognised as one of the best University provision in the country, from our world class health and fitness facility, The Edge, to the 145 acres of outdoor pitches at Sports Park Weetwood. Our sports programmes provide the breadth and diversity to meet the needs of our elite and talented athletes.

Our newly formed partnership with TASS is a testament to our desire to help student-athletes reach their potential. Talented athletes are supported by a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team and have full access to our excellent facilities. As a TASS Delivery Site we are committed to offering a comprehensive support package that includes provision in the following areas; strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, sports massage, lifestyle support, psychology and educational athlete workshops.
