UEL is a large, modern university with campuses and sports facilities to match. The University also has one of the most diverse student co-horts in the country with over 120 different nationalities represented.

Our commitment to sport is reflected in our newly earned TASS Delivery Site (TDS) status with TASS and by winning the ‘Most Improved University’ accolade at the BUCS 2010–2011 Awards ceremony. In accordance with this, UEL has made a significant investment in sports scholarships and support services for high-performing athletes.

The High-Performance Sport Programme at the University of East London is one of the most attractive in the UK and enables elite athletes to balance study with their sporting ambitions by offering our elite athletes world-class facilities, comprehensive support and financial scholarships and bursaries.

Current athletes at UEL include the 2014 Commonwealth Games 200m bronze medallist Bianca Williams and 2014 Commonwealth Games 400m IM silver medallist Aimee Willmott, also alumni include Adam Gemili, 2014 European Athletics 200m champion.
UEL has developed a holistic approach to athlete support with a focus on offering flexible, high quality services delivered by some of the leading practitioners in the London region in areas such as Strength and Conditioning, Physiotherapy, Lifestyle Support, Sports Massage, Osteopathy, Psychology and Sports Nutrition.

We are committed to delivering a 90% satisfaction rate across all of our sports service provision and this commitment extends to the TASS programme. In addition to offering core TASS services UEL provides additional free access to our Sports Therapy clinic to all TASS athletes and the option to attend performance lifestyle workshops, which are run for our student athletes.
