South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College is one of the leading institutions in the UK for enabling students to achieve academic success, whilst also being able to become high-performance athletes.

The SGS Sport Academies have celebrated 15 years of success and during this time have welcomed many national and international athletes, from the likes of Will Bailey and Taulupe ‘Toby’ Faletau. Whilst studying at SGS, students have the opportunity be part of one of thirteen sport academies, ranging from American Football to Golf. Our home stay scheme allows us to attract players from all over Europe, to not only progress as sports people but to also obtain a top-class education. Our student-athletes are from a range of backgrounds and study on wide-ranging programmes, such as A-Level’s, BTEC’s and also Degree courses.

As a college, we not only want to help our students to progress in their sporting journey, we also want to make sure that they leave us better than when they came – gaining academic achievement and also a bank of valuable interpersonal and transferable skills. For us, it is essential that our students develop socially, personally and academically as this will help them to become not just a high-performance athlete but also an individual who is ready to enter the wider world.

The TASS Dual Career Accreditation will help to improve the existing offer to our student-athletes by not only providing support and high-quality resources but by also legitimising the requirement for students to have greater academic flexibility, in order to perform to their maximum potential in both their sporting and academic lives.

We are really excited for the journey ahead.
