In any given year we routinely have sport scholars from each of our 5 faculties and as many as 46 different academic courses from a typical 60 student cohort. There are often options in place to stretch degrees as well as learn aspects remotely when necessary, to accommodate elite sporting endeavours. - BSc Physiology graduate Tully Kearny, 9 x World Para-swimming medallist
- MSc Sport Busines, Management and Policy student Marc Scoot, Athletics – British 5k indoor and road world record holder.
- MSc Sport Business, Management and Policy student Dominique Allen, Basketball – London 2012 Olympian and 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Silver Medallist.
The University provides high level support services to National and International athletes across a variety of sports through our sport scholarship programme (https://www2.mmu.ac.uk/sport/performance-sport/scholarships/ ). Our staff have extensive experience in dual career performance sport environments and understand opportunities this can present. We provide bespoke services in; physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, sports science, sports nutrition, sports psychology and lifestyle support. The athlete is at the centre of everything we do and through performance lifestyle meetings staff help athletes achieve balance between their academic, sporting and personal ambitions.
