TASS seek new members for TMG (TASS Management Group)

The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) is part of the SportsAid Family of athlete support programmes.  TASS strives to deliver world-leading talent development environments dedicated to nurturing and shaping the next generation of high-performance athletes. Delivering support that unlocks their full potential to thrive against future challenges in their sport and in life. Backed by Sport England through SportsAid, the TASS Network brings together athletes, institutions and national governing bodies (NGBs) to support our country’s most exciting young talents.

The TASS Management Group (TMG) is a formal sub-committee of the SportsAid Board of Trustees.  The TMG is responsible for setting the strategic direction of TASS, its fit with Sport England’s talent strategy and the wider Government agendas, sporting and Further/Higher Education sector priorities, with specific reference to the links between the education and sporting sectors and talent development.

SportsAid is a critical system partner in the talent pathway environment and the accountable organisation for the management and oversight of TASS.  As a standing committee of SportsAid, the TMG reports to the SportsAid Board of Trustees.

TMG Member

We are looking for up to 4 new TMG Members to help lead and develop TASS.

This is an exciting role directly connected to the purpose and passion of the scheme and a rare opportunity to join a committed and driven team.  It will require a passion to help young people, a good understanding of the education, sport or business sector and strong interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of the TASS Delivery Network, education and sporting sectors, talent/athlete development and broader commercial experience is of particular interest with strengths in major project management, multi-stakeholder engagement, finance and risk and strategic planning.  You will have experience in management and leadership roles.

As a member of the TMG you will ensure the highest standards of integrity and good governance and will help to shape the future of programme.

The minimum commitment as a TMG member will be to attend four meetings per year (typically held in London); there will be an additional time commitment as you become involved with one of TMG’s sub-groups and in being an advocate for TASS. TMG positions are unremunerated but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

SportsAid recognises that certain sections of the community have been affected by structural inequities and may be denied the opportunity to participate equally and fully in sport at all levels. SportsAid as an organisation believes our role is to remove the barriers that our most under-served, at risk and minoritised groups of young people experience when trying to access sport and physical activities.

SportsAid therefore positively welcomes, and seeks to achieve, diversity in our workforce and that all job applicants, volunteers and employees receive equal and fair treatment.  We positively encourage applications from all candidates regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, disability, marriage and civil partnership status, gender identity, background, religion, faith, sexual orientation, maternity status, pregnancy, belief or nationality.
