ALUMNUS FLIES INTO NEW BBL SEASON
The basketball talent appeared alongside the rest of the 2016/17 senior squad at the official Team Launch at the Pitcher and Piano on the Newcastle Quayside.
Away from the court, student Horta Darrington recently started his third year studying a degree in Physics and Astrophysics at Northumbria University.
The youngster reflected on the support he received from his TASS award, as well as looking ahead to the forthcoming season.
“The best part was the help with time management and organising my time around the weekly hours required for my course. Also Heather, my TASS co-ordinator, referred me to the nutritionist and I really enjoyed sessions with Tom, my S&C coach.”
“Im really excited for the new season as I’ve learnt a lot in my first year in the Eagles senior team – so far, so good”, he said. “I think we’re going to do well. We’ve got a younger, fresher team so I believe we could go all the way.”
The Eagles squad, consisting of some returning players as well as a number of fresh faces, showed off their new kit which features the famous Newcastle Gateshead bridges.
Basketball fans will have the chance to see the team in action when new season commences with an away game to Cheshire on 25th September.
Alternatively, the first home game held at Northumbria University Sport Central will take place on Friday 30th September against Manchester Giants.
