New BeginningsAn important year for TASS with the Olympics and Paralympics around the corner

The Scheme entered its eighth year with a focus on underpinning the support UKSport gives to the summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic sports.

With a slight reduction in the number of sports as well as TASS Hubs, the Scheme is still determined to do what is does best and provide quality support and services to its athletes via the Higher and Further education sectors, using skilled service deliverers with the upmost experience.

TASS streamlined the nomination process, bringing the whole process to the TASS Portal. This has seen a vast reduction in the time taken by athletes to complete their nomination. Also for the first time athletes are required to complete reviews on a quarterly basis.

The swiftness in the nomination process has meant athletes have been inducted by their Hub quicker than ever and are starting to reap the full benefits of the scheme.

“The start to the 2011/2012 TASS year has been the best I have witnessed. Prompt nominations by NGB’s, hard work behind the scenes in the TASS National Office and the swift actions of Lead Hub staff has meant that athletes are well underway in their service delivery.” Di Lewis, TASS Services Manager

This year brings a slimmed down Hub structure with regions working more closely together than ever before. Coupled with this has been the development of TASS Lead S&C/Physiotherapist positions from within the TASS network. This is an exciting year and these changes will give a fresh impetus to the TASS programme as we move forward.
