Leeds Met University developed from Leeds Polytechnic in September 1992, giving it the power to confer its own degrees. The Carnegie Physical Training College was opened in 1933 at the then Becket Park Campus as part of the City of Leeds Training College. Carnegie was founded with funding from Andrew Carnegie’s legacy to be a pioneering college in the field of physical education and sport. Today our Carnegie Faculty continues to build upon its world wide reputation for excellence in sport, education and leisure.
