UK Anti-Doping is looking to build its educational capacity among partner institutions to keep sport clean.
TASS represents a unique partnership between talented young athletes, higher education and national governing bodies, therefore providing a fantastic opportunity to integrate anti-doping education within the lifestyle support that TASS offers.
This collaborative project will enable UK Anti-Doping to equip TASS coordinators, lifestyle support advisors and other staff providing lifestyle advice to TASS Athletes with the most up-to-date, relevant knowledge of anti-doping so that they are able to deliver consistent anti-doping education. Such training will help ensure a large number of athletes competing at national and international level receive vital anti-doping education.
“We are delighted to enter into this partnership with UK Anti-Doping, which reflects both national recognition of our role in developing talented, young athletes and TASS’ commitment to promoting clean sport. The project presents a fantastic opportunity to develop staff responsible for educating the young stars of the future with the most up-to-date, anti-doping messages during what is an exciting time for sport in this country.” Guy Taylor, TASS National Scheme Director
The project also provides a further possibility to engage with TASS physios and S & C staff through education and/or e-learning, providing TASS personnel with professional development opportunities.
This project will:
- Provide TASS staff with educator training
- Ensure a cohort of approximately 600 athletes (annually) who compete at national and international level will be taught important aspects of the anti-doping curriculum
- Work in partnership with high performance Universities and NGBs
- Develop online learning for TASS personnel
- Support TASS with the appropriate resources and literature to fully integrate anti-doping education into the scheme.
