Skandia Team GBR's TASS Sailing Athletes Claim Podium Positions at Junior World Championships

Anna Burnet (Southampton Hub) and Flora Stewart (Bath Hub) take silver in The Netherlands

Anna Burnet (Southampton HUB) and Flora Stewart (Bath HUB) took silver on the final day of the Junior Olympic classes event. Burnet and Stewart were lying in third place but a fantastic win in the final race saw them move up to the silver medal position.

“Winning the medal race was amazing. It was a really good way to finish the regatta and we are over the moon to finish with a silver medal”, said Burnet.

“Nine months after moving into the 470, Anna and I are delighted to have taken silver at our first Junior World Championship. The competition was fierce, and winning the Medal Race was a great way to end the regatta. Our hard work over the winter has paid off” commented Flora Stewart at the end of the event.

RYA Olympic Development Squad Manager, Barrie Edgington expressed future Olympic potential among the young athletes: “These are some great results from Skandia Team GBR’s young talents, and it was a fantastic event for our new 470 teams on the female side to cut their teeth. It’s really encouraging to see them challenging for medals”.
