“It’s not only senior internationalists such as Olympians that require a good support structure if they are to be successful. Developing age-group athletes also need support if they are to progress to the senior stage.
Being on the TASS programme as an age-grouper helped with additional financial backing to support my parents and helped me access support I might not have used, such as sports medicine and sports science.”
Rebecca Adlington,
Double Olympic Gold medalist.
Rebecca Adlington is just one of many outstanding athletes and sports people who have benefited from the support of TASS.
In fact no less than 37 former TASS athletes competed at the Beijing Olympics, bringing home 9 medals.
TASS provides athletes with a tailored package of service worth up to £3,500 in value. These may include Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, Lifestyle Support, Physiology and Sports Medicine.
Each year we offer 1,000 athletes on average, aged between 16 and 28, receive support from TASS. The Upper age limit can be extended to 35 in the case of disability athletes.
TASS awards are annual, and run from 1st October to 30th September. Nominations are made by the individual sporting National Governing Bodies, which also plan how each chosen athlete’s award is spent. Athlete’s do not recieve the money up front.
Forty-seven different sports are covered by the scheme.
Athletes must be competing at National or International level in their sport and be nominated for a TASS award by their National Governing Body.
